WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World Of Words. All you have to do is answer the following questions:
- What have you recently finished reading?
- What are you currently reading?
- What do you think you’ll read next?
I’ve read 3 books since the start of 2017 and they were:
The Girl Before features two women who move into the same house, years apart form one another. Emma, who lives there first, ends up dying under mysterious circumstances. The case can’t conclusively decide whether her death was an accident, a suicide, or murder. Jane moves in a little more than a year later, after the apartment had been vacant for a year. As she gets settled in, she learns about Emma, and starts doing a little digging into her death. She quickly comes to find that Emma looks a lot like her, and that they both had relationships with the same man – the architect of the house. Read my full review here.
The Couple Next Door features married couple Anne and Marcos leave their house one night to go to a dinner party next door. Their baby sitter cancelled last minute, so they decided to leave their 6 month old daughter Cora home alone, and they’d bring the baby monitor to the dinner party and check on her every half hour. They come home at about 1:30am to find their front door ajar and their baby missing. From there, we fly through a number of ransom attempts, police interviews, and leads, until the kidnapper is finally revealed. Read my full review here.
Neanderthanl Seeks Human is a chick-lit book that reads like a romantic comedy. I have to say, I didn’t totally love it. I thought it was okay, but the main character drove me nuts in how clueless she was. I can’t imagine anyone being that oblivious in real life. That said, I wanted something light and easy as a palate cleanser, and this was exactly what I was looking for. Here’s the description from Goodreads:
“After losing her boyfriend, apartment, and job in the same day, Janie Morris can’t help wondering what new torment fate has in store. To her utter mortification, Quinn Sullivan- aka Sir McHotpants- witnesses it all then keeps turning up like a pair of shoes you lust after but can’t afford. The last thing she expects is for Quinn- the focus of her slightly, albeit harmless, stalkerish tendencies- to make her an offer she can’t refuse.”
Okay next question!
What are you currently reading?
Well because I can’t control myself, I’m again reading a few different things, and am not too far into any of them, so I’ll include their Goodreads descriptions. Here they are…
A perfect family hiding disturbing secrets. A killer who wants the truth to be told.
A teacher goes missing under suspicious circumstances. A millionaire is murdered at a local reservoir. For Detective Robyn Carter, there’s no obvious link between the men. But as she starts to delve into the cases, her investigations lead her to Abigail, perfect wife and mother to beautiful little Izzy. What was Abigail’s connection to the victims? And why is she receiving threatening messages from an anonymous number?
But as Robyn starts to inch closer to finding the killer, Izzy is abducted.
Unless Robyn gets to the twisted individual in time, a little girl will die …
“I’ve been following her for the past few days. I know where she buys her groceries, where she works. I don’t know the color of her eyes or what they look like when she’s scared. But I will.”
One night, Mia Dennett enters a bar to meet her on-again, off-again boyfriend. But when he doesn’t show, she unwisely leaves with an enigmatic stranger. At first Colin Thatcher seems like a safe one-night stand. But following Colin home will turn out to be the worst mistake of Mia’s life.
When Colin decides to hide Mia in a secluded cabin in rural Minnesota instead of delivering her to his employers, Mia’s mother, Eve, and detective Gabe Hoffman will stop at nothing to find them. But no one could have predicted the emotional entanglements that eventually cause this family’s world to shatter.
Lastly, I’m finishing up my Harry Potter re-read! I’m sure you all know the plot of this one 😉
What do you think you’ll read next?
This is always the hardest one for me, because I’m horrible at picking a book I’ll read next and then sticking to it. It always ends up being a heat of the moment decision! If I had to guess, I’d say…
A serial killer is stalking your home town.
He has a type: all his victims look the same.
And they all look like you.
Kate returns from a post break-up holiday with her girlfriends to news of a serial killer in her home town – and his victims all look like her.
It could, of course, be a simple coincidence.
Or maybe not.
She becomes convinced she is being watched, followed even. Is she next? And could her mild-mannered ex-boyfriend really be a deranged murderer?
Or is the truth something far more sinister?
Sounds good, right?
